Shop The Nines, Turn North Salon and Spa and I collaborated on this fun spring shoot to show off some spring styles and Turn North’s new location and services.
These two downtown Detroit Lakes businesses are both on Washington Avenue Detroit lakes in the shopping district. I have worked with Lauren at the Nines on and off for a few years now, photographing events and outfits for their website and marketing. Turn North is a modern, new salon in town run by AJ Klemm. They have the front part of the building and Lakes Massage has the back.
The models for the session first got to ‘shop’ the Nines with one of their personal shoppers, planning the perfect combination of outfits for the session. Then on the day of the session, everyone was pampered by the wonderful stylists at Turn North Salon and Spa.
The lobby space of Turn North Salon and Spa is sooooo cute and well designed. AJ has done very well! Such a great space to hang out and wait for your appointment.
We were able to capture a few behind the scenes of the getting ready process before the shoot.
It was so inspirational to watch the stylists at Turn North Salon and Spa do their magic!
We started the session in the stunning garden space behind Price’s Jewelry. It may have been too early in the year for anything to have started growing, but we still took advantage of their beautiful twinkle lights and the lovely brick area.
I of course had to get some lovely detail images of the lovely eye makeup done by Turn North!
Katie rocked this jumpsuit from The Nines. The colors were perfect for this downtown location. Neutrals with just enough pattern without being too busy for the camera.
The wind caught Taylor’s hair just perfect at this moment! And I love the little bralette details.
We moved on over to this fun textured wall. Detroit Lakes has the most beautiful downtown alley area for portraits!
Alli was absolutely STUNNING in this outfit from The Nines! And the way Turn North styled her hair in these flowy curls and that hat. It all came together simply perfectly with the breeze. What a dream.
The awesome part about wearing a cardigan, jacket, or blazer is how easily we can mix up your look in an instant. Look at the huge difference just pulling off the cardigan made to the whole look! And can we talk about the beautiful button detail on this dress?
We loved mixing this texture with the playful hair and colorful top!
