THE PHOTO-FLOWER FIELD
INQUIRE NOW
I grew up on a farm. Growing things always made sense.
As a kid, it was vegetables, animals, canning jars, and gardens built for function. Life moved on. For a long time, growing things lived on the back burner.
Then, a few years ago, the curiosity came back.
At the same time, more and more clients were asking for flowers in their photos. Wildflowers are unpredictable. Public spaces are limited. I already had this space I love: a private farm that I've slowly been shaping into a photographer's dream for over a decade.
So I combined those worlds.
The Photo-Flower Field is the result.
Not a traditional flower farm.
Not a replacement for all the other locations on the farm.
A thoughtfully grown space designed to photograph beautifully and fit naturally into SESSIONS AT THE FARM.
Most sessions don’t happen entirely in the flower field.
We move around the farm.
We use different textures, spaces, and light.
The field is usually one stop along the way.
For seniors, it might be one outfit. Sometimes two.
For families, it’s often the final stop, a place to let kids explore, move freely, and end the session on a high note.
It adds variety without taking over.
Fresh growth. Softer greens. More openness. I'm currently working on establishing peonies and daffodils for this season.
Fuller blooms. Taller flowers. More color and depth. The field is in full bloom, full of your recognizable cut flowers and more.
Warmer tones. Slower energy. A quieter feel as the season winds down. The field is winding down, but this is also when the dahlias shine.
WHAT WEAR WORKS BEST HERE
You don’t need to overthink it.
Flowy fabrics. Layers. Pieces with movement.
Soft color. Natural texture. Comfortable shoes.
If you’re unsure, that’s completely normal. I’ll help you choose what works best with the season, the light, and the way you want your images to feel.
'I always love the variety, even when it feels there's no way there are any good images.'
LIGHT & TIMING
The field loves gentle light.
Most sessions visit the field in the evening, when the sun is lower and the light softens. Early mornings can work too, especially if you love quiet and don’t mind starting early..
THE PERENNIAL SPACE
On the other side of the farm is a newer perennial space.
It’s quieter, slowly coming to life. In a few years, it will be the hub of spring flower sessions with peonies and daffodils and other spring flowers.
Right now, we use it sparingly, with more to come in the future.
If you’re a returning client, you’ll get to watch this space grow alongside my work.
“I really loved our Mother/Daughter session. That time and closeness with my daughters will never be forgotten. It was a gorgeous morning in the flowers!”
- Heidi
This space has become a sanctuary for me, and for the people I photograph in it.
There’s room to breathe.
Room to move.
Room to ease into the moment.
Kids who forget they’re being photographed.
And sometimes just a pause near the end of a session.
Sessions here tend to feel lighter, more playful, and a little timeless.
'Her beautiful property offers so many natural backgrounds, no extra driving around searching for the right locations!'

Fall Senior Session
We sprinkled the flower field into Sydney's many passions at her senior session. It's a great example of how the field can enhance but not overtake a session.

The Photo-Flower Field is available for a limited window each year, typically mid-June through early September, depending on weather and bloom timing.

Say hi!
Do we need to plan outfits or ideas specifically for the flower field?
Only if you want to. Some clients come with ideas they are excited about, and I love incorporating those! But most just bring along outfits they love, and I help choose which outfits photograph best in each location.
What if the flowers aren’t in peak bloom during our session?
That is okay. The field changes throughout the season, and every week looks different. BUT even if the field looks sparse from a distance, we can almost always find little pockets of abundance to tuck into.
Do we spend the entire session in the flower field?
Generally, no. The flower field is usually one stop during the session and not the whole experience. This gives us maximum variety.
I still have a few questions...
