It was such a joy working with Gracie on her senior session. Gracie and her family were visiting from Alexandria while visiting their lake cabin. Since they were all in town together they also did a family mini session at the beginning of the senior session.
Incorporating The Lake
I learned from Gracie’s questionnaire that portraits by the lake were important to her. To bring this vision to life, we visited two separate lake locations. And then of course finished the session with a Little Cormorant lakeside sunset. But let’s take you back to the beginning where we started at the farm.
Family Mini Session Add On
We began Gracie’s session with a family mini session. We captured a number of different portrait variations, including this traditional ‘Christmas card’ portrait.
Incorporating The Many Farm Locations
Then we started Gracie’s Alexandria High School senior session in the horse pasture. I love this location for the tall grass and rolling hills background.
Using Posing & Cropping For Variety
In each outfit and location, we capture a number of different poses and crops, including close-up headshots, full-body, and if possible a few pulled-back environmental portraits.
I love that we were also able to capture a few images of just Gracie and her mom.
In moving on to Gracie’s second outfit we moved on over to the hayfield for some more greenery.
Adding Movement
I love adding movement to senior portraits whenever possible. Twirling images are especially fun when long hair is involved!
The way the evening sun glows through these trees is one of my favorite parts of the hayfield!
The First Lake Location
For Gracie’s third outfit we stopped by our first lake location of the session.
An Unnexpected Location Stop
When walking we spotted this little patch of wildflowers among the grass. Of course, we had to stop and take a few pictures!
Gravel Road Sunset Glow
Before heading over to our last location of the evening, we took advantage of this gorgeous sunset glow along the gravel road.
I love a classic lakeside portrait on the dock!
What better way to finish off our senior session than with a sunset silohette! I hope you have enjoyed Gracie’s Alexandria senior portraits. Be sure to check out the locations guide for more location inspiration on and around the Langerud Farm.
