You know those sessions that inspire and excite you as an artist. This was one of those for me. As many of you know, I have a segment of my brand (horsephotog.com) that is dedicated to equestrian photography. I define equestrian photography as the art of capturing that soul bonded connnection between a horse and rider.
Maternity Pictures with Your Horse(s)
Maternity pictures with horses adds a whole extra layer to that. As horse owners know, horses are often more than pets or athletes. If you are lucky, you might even find your four legged soul mate. So to capture that connection with your horses as your family grows is simply priceless. Add in some dreamy sunset light and it becomes magical.
A Little About This Gorgeous Location
Jessica’s session took place at their farm and featured her three lovely quarter horses. We were lucky enough to get this magical, glowy evening in November! Not to go down the rabbit hole of weather talk, but it totally could have been snowing so I am always grateful for a warm and sunny late fall in Minnesota.
The Outfit Details!
This lovely dress is from PrimRose Boutique. When I saw this dress listed on their site I just knew it had to make its way into a session. I actually purchased it for the client closet, so you could wear it if you want too. Its not technically a maternity dress, but has a lovely flow to the fabric that makes it flexible to fit over a bump or not. A Horse-y Hug
Should I tell you the secret to how we got this photo, or just talk about how extra sweet a horse hug is during a maternity session with horses ;). But in all seriousness, I think its almost every horse girl’s dream to have a snuggly photo with their horse.
Some Traditional Maternity Portraits
The horses were definately a huge focus of this maternity session, but we of course also took some traditional materntiy photos of Jessica and her beautiful bump.
Fun fact! I was also very pregnant when taking these pictures for Jessica and our babies were born one day apart. It was fun to connect with a fellow mom to be and horse lover to bring these images to life.
