My brother just got married at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach, MN, on Saturday. It was magical. This is my second and last brother to get married (Cody got married a couple of years ago). My brothers are both several years younger than me. It’s honestly a little weird to think about them as old enough to be married, even though they most definitely are. They are forever frozen in my brain at the age I was when I moved out of home.
My family has strong Christian roots, and this was a fully Christ-centered wedding. The love these two share is special and beautiful. Well, let’s jump right on in!
These getting ready suites were a dream!
I loved capturing these sweet moments among the guys as they were getting ready in the morning.
This was such a special Father – Daughter first look.
One of my personal photography goals is to see things from different perspectives. After doing photography for so many years, it’s easy to get stuck in the rut of taking the same photos repeatedly. This drive to explore led me to hop into the other room and photograph them through the door frame.
After the first looks, we headed downstairs to capture some family portraits. The Lafayette Club’s ceremony room was the perfect space to gather.
After we wrapped up family portraits, it was time to hide away the bride and groom and get ready for our 11 am ceremony!
I loved this floral arch. Wow, it’s so gorgeous!! I’ve always loved wedding flowers, but after starting the Photo-Flower-Field journey last year, I have a newfound respect for anyone who works in the floral industry and can make beautiful works of art like this!
After the entire family was seated, Josh started the ceremony with a welcome speech.
Megan’s veil was the same her mom wore on her wedding day. What a special momento.
Everyone who was there to support Megan and Josh in their marriage stood at the pastor’s request.
After the bride and groom exchanged rings, their parents came up to pray over them.
That ‘Just Married’ feeling!
It’s time to sign. The photo I didn’t include here shows the moments just prior, when everyone was practicing their signatures, and Megan got to practice signing her new last name.
And now, it’s time to celebrate with all the guests who traveled far and wide to attend! This ballroom at the Lafayette Club is breathtaking.
I loved catching this little moment where the bride and groom snuck off to get something to drink. My job as a photographer is a complex mix of guiding and directing people AND waiting for moments to happen in front of my lens.
The bride’s oldest brother and the groom’s brother both performed speeches at the reception.
We finished our time together with Bride & Groom portraits around the Lafayette Club.
With the significant MN winter wind chill, we opted to take most of our portraits indoors.
But we also couldn’t help but hop outside and capture a few images of the beautiful architecture at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach, MN.
Fun fact: it was so windy outside the front of the venue that the wind blew Megan’s veil right out! But it was 110% worth it. Look at those beautiful arches and that gorgeous sunlight.
The guests saw Josh & Megan off with a ribbon stick exit.
