Meet Amber

Abby and Thomas had the most PERFECT wedding day: great weather, great friends, and fun family. We started our day getting ready at a family home. From there we traveled over to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. There was no first look before the ceremony so we had just enough time to get everyone settled and grab a few individual bride and groom portraits before the ceremony.

The ceremony was stunning and went on flawlessly. There is something awe-inspiring and beautiful about a catholic wedding ceremony. So much honor and respect toward the marriage institution.

After the ceremony was the marathon of photos. I’m calling it that affectionately. One and a half hours to take all the family photos, bridal party photos, and bride and groom photos across two locations. We started with the family photos at the church. Although not always the most epic of locations, if you have a gorgeous church (like Holy Rosary) sometimes taking family photos at the church is the best choice. It’s easily accessible for the grandparents, people can sit and wait in the pews and we were all already there for the ceremony!

Once the family photos concluded, we headed to the Holiday Inn on the Lake in Detroit Lakes. The Holiday Inn is one of the classic wedding venues in the area and always has great food!

We started with the bridal party photos by the lake. Who doesn’t love a lake background for photos!? The clouds gave us this perfect diffusion for an epic (and the perfect not-too-bright background). After bridal party photos, it was time to rock out the bride and groom photos. Abby and Thomas are such gems and naturals in front of the camera! I could have photographed them all afternoon. But with the grand entrance quickly approaching, we narrowed down to a few of our favorite spots by the lake and headed in.

The reception was the perfect mix of good food, great people, and epic dancing. This group wasted no time filling the dance floor once open dancing started (welcoming the guests on with the Bluey theme song, nice touch!).
